<p>Achieve ideal weight-Because if you have diabetes, then being overweight can cause even more complications.  If you don’t have diabetes, as mentioned, the diabetes diet can help you to lose weight by eating right and eliminating a lot of unhealthy foods from your diet.</p>
<p>Maintain normal blood glucose levels-If you have diabetes, this is extremely important.  If you have too much or too little glucose in your body you can have some serious trouble.  Whether you have diabetes or not, maintaining the right blood glucose level will help you to feel energized and not hungry.  </p>

<p>A lot of the diabetes diet focuses on carbohydrates.  There are three types of carbohydrates.  There are starches (these are often referred to as complex carbohydrates), sugar, and fiber. <p>Before you begin on the diabetes diet, your doctor will be able to tell you how many calories you should consume daily.  This will vary from person to person.  To lose weight you must ensure you don’t consume more calories than your body burns.</p>

<p>50%-60% of your daily calories will come from carbohydrates.  This usually translates to 45-60 grams of carbohydrates per meal. You should try to consume more of the non-starchy vegetables </p>
<p>12%-20% of your daily calories will come from protein.  You should try to stick with lean meats.  Lean meats include the following:</p>

Fish-tuna, salmon, cod, catfish, etc…<br />
Seafood-Crab, lobster, clams, oysters, etc…<br />
Lean cuts of beef and pork-The best cuts of meat for these are sirloin or pork loin.  The less visible marbled fat, the cut of meat has the better.<br />
Other-Eggs, tofu, low fat cheese, nuts, etc…</p>
<p>Most people eat three meals per day.  The diabetes diet works a little bit different.  If you are on the diabetes diet, you should eat smaller meals more frequently.  It is suggested that you eat 5-6 times per day.  This will help to keep your blood glucose level stable.  This will help you to feel full all day without craving food. </p>

Many people when they first hear about this diet believe that it is “new” or “revolutionary” or even that it’s some sort of “secret” diet.  When in actuality, none of the above is true.  </p>
<p>There are a lot of misconceptions about this diet, including the origins.  Some sources claim that the diet was created by a famous doctor; some sources attribute it to respectable hospitals, etc…The diet did not come from a famous doctor or hospital.  The true origins of this diet are unknown to this day.</p>
<p>This diet seems to have first surfaced in the 1980’s.  It spread quickly by fax machine.  Once the internet arrived, it quickly spread that way.  This is one of those fad diets that seems like it will never die or go away.</p>
<p>What is the cabbage soup diet?  </p>
<p>The cabbage soup diet is a 7 day eating plan.  The diet, as the name suggests, focuses around a soup which is comprised mainly of cabbage.  The eating plan is below:</p>
<p>Day 1 &#8211; Cabbage soup and any type of fruit that you would like to eat, except for bananas.</p>
<p>Day 2 &#8211; Cabbage soup and any vegetables that you care to eat.  You may also have a baked potato that has a small amount of butter on it.  </p>
<p>Day 3 &#8211; Cabbage soup plus any fruits or vegetables that you care to eat, with the exception of potatoes or bananas. </p>
<p>Day 4 &#8211; Cabbage soup and bananas.  You may eat up to 8 bananas.  You may also drink as much skim milk as you want too. </p>
<p>Day 5 &#8211; Cabbage soup and beef.  You may have up to 20 ounces of beef this day along with the cabbage soup.  You may also consume up to 6 tomatoes. </p>
<p>Day 6 &#8211; Cabbage soup and unlimited beef.  This day you can have as much beef as you care to eat.  You can also have as many vegetables as you want, except for potatoes. </p>
<p>Day 7 &#8211; Cabbage soup and brown rice.  You may also have any vegetables that you want this day, except potatoes.  You may drink unsweetened fruit juice this day too. </p>
<p>It should be noted that you may eat as much of the cabbage soup that you want on any of the days. You must eat the cabbage soup at least 3 times per day.  It should also be pointed out that there are some other variations of this diet.  </p>
<p>The above may not be the exact cabbage soup diet that you may have stumbled upon.  The main ingredients usually consist of the following:  cabbage, onion, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, and seasonings.  The ingredients for the cabbage soup also tend to vary.  </p>
<p>Does this diet work?</p>
<p>Yes and no.  The diet can work, if you actually stick to it for the 7 days.  You are severely limiting your calorie intake.  Given that you have to eat the same thing daily, will probably tend to make you want to eat less of the soup, which will even further restrict your daily calorie intake.</p>
<p>If you’re expecting the weight loss to be long term, don’t.  Most of the weight you lose from this diet will be water weight, not fat.  Once you resume your normal eating habits, the weight you lost will return.  In fact, it is probable that you will not only gain the weight you lost while being on this diet, but you may even gain more weight.  You could wind up heavier than before you started this diet after you resume your normal eating habits.</p>
<p>Is this diet safe?</p>
<p>No, it is not.  It is highly recommended that you don’t go on the cabbage soup diet.  This diet is not nutritionally sound.  You can actually become mal-nourished while on this diet.  You should never eat under 1200 calories, unless you’re being directed by a doctor.  This diet can make you come dangerously close to consuming less than 1200 calories.  Even though it is only a week, it is highly recommended you don’t try this diet. </p>
<p>The cabbage soup diet lives on because there will always be an allure and an attraction to a diet that will help you to lose weight rapidly.  The cabbage soup diet is not nutritionally sound nor will give you long term weight loss benefits at all.  There are many other safe, nutritionally sound, diets out there that will help you to lose weight quickly and easily, if you put the effort into them.</p>

Margie had gained 30 pounds after her second pregnancy.  She was sluggish – and not just because she had to keep up with a baby and a toddler.  She felt that her weight was keeping her from being the mother she wanted to be.</p>
<p>Margie went to a dietitian to help her change her food choices.  One of the things Susan, her dietitian, suggested was to eat a variety of whole foods that were low in fat and high in fiber. <p>Using a ball in your workout can help you focus on muscles that you might otherwise neglect. Because you often have to concentrate on holding the ball between your knees or squeezing it while making movements, it makes you more aware of the muscles you’re using.<br />

A variety of exercises have been developed by Pilates experts to help you use a Pilates mini ball properly and get the most from the exercises. There are routines designed for Pilates beginners specifically that use the ball to make the new exerciser more aware of certain muscles and movements. <p>To start using a Pilates mini ball, try some basic exercises like these:</p>
<p>•	Stand about an arm’s length away from the wall, and hold the ball between your hands. Put the ball against the wall and lean into it, letting your elbows bend, then push yourself back.<br />
•	Lie on the floor with your knees bent and the ball between your ankles. Hold the ball there as you straighten your legs and bend them slowly.<br />
•	Or do something as simple as sit in a chair with the ball between your thighs. Use your thigh muscles to squeeze the ball slowly and relax. </p>
<p>If you’ll do those exercises regularly, just 10 times each, you’ll soon start to feel and see a difference in those muscle groups. </p>
<p>You might be wondering what the benefit of using the ball might be in an exercise like the wall push-up listed above. Couldn’t you just stand and put your hands on the wall to do the same thing?  </p>
<p>Yes, of course you could. And you’d still benefit from the exercises. You could tone your arms that way. But using a ball gives the exercise more intensity. Because you’re leaning against a round somewhat malleable ball, you have to constantly correct your balance to keep the ball from rolling. You use tiny muscles in ways that you don’t normally use them when you use a ball. </p>
<p>You can use a Pilates mini ball for a variety of exercises. Just incorporate it into things you normally do. The added bit of resistance and the requirement of balancing yourself will add another layer to your workouts. </p>
<p>Another nice thing about a Pilates ball is that even if you buy one made specifically for Pilates, they’re relatively inexpensive. And if you want to go even cheaper, just buy a child’s ball that’s around the same size—about the size of a soccer ball. If you have kids, you might have the perfect Pilates mini ball already waiting for you in a closet or your child’s toy box. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Do you suffer from a gut that just won’t stop?  Well, you don’t have to put up with this condition.  With some hard work, you can get flat abs in just 30  short days.</p>
<p>The key to flat abs is is a regimen that works all of your abdominal muscles.  You should do the following exercises a minimum of four times a week for four weeks if you want to get flat abs in just one month.<br />

You will notice that none of these exercises to get flat abs in 30 days requires any special equipment.  You can do the entire workout on your floor needing only a bottle of water.</p>
<p>First, you will do belly rolls.  These work your vertical ab muscles.  What you do is sit with your legs bent, feet flat on the floor with your arms straight in front of you.  Exhale your breath and roll back until your lower back touches the ground.  Then inhale and roll back up.</p>
<p>You will want to repeat the belly rolls 15 times and then do this variation: when you exhale, roll your body back until your shoulders touch the ground.  Repeat the shoulder belly rolls 15 times as well.</p>
<p>Next up is tummy curls.   These work your horizontal ab muscles.  What you will do is lie on your back and bend your knees at about an 80 degree angle.  Raise your feet slightly higher than your knees.  Lift your rear end and roll back to your shoulder blades.  Inhale and then roll to your tail bone without letting your butt touch the ground.  Repeat the tummy curls 20 times.</p>
<p>The third exercise is the cross crunches which help out your waist.  You are going to use a 1 liter bottle of water to do this exercise.  Lie on your back with your knees bent at a 90-degree angle with the floor and cradle your left hand behind your head. Hold the water bottle in your right hand.  Lift your head and shoulders off of the ground and reach across your body, so the bottle is outside your left knee. Repeat 20 times before switching sides and doing it another 20 times.</p>
<p>Tailbone lifts are the next exercise and they work your lower ab muscles.  What you are going to do is lie on your back, arms stretched straight over your head and legs fully extended and crossed in the air. Exhale as you lift your tailbone, and then slowly lower your back as you inhale.  Resist the urge to just drop on the way down.  Do this exercise 30 times before moving on.</p>
<p>The final exercise is inverted crunches.  These work your lower back muscles.  To perform this exercise, lie on your stomach, arms in front of you as if flying. Exhale and lift just your right arm and left leg as high as you can. Then inhale and lower your leg. Switch off, lifting your left arm and right leg. Alternate sides, doing 20 lifts on each side. As a final step, lift both arms and legs 20 times.</p>
<p>If you want to get flat abs in just 30 days, you will follow this exercise regime diligently for a full month.  Remember to schedule in the exercises at least four times per week.</p>
<p>While there are no magic cures for getting rid of belly fat, flat abs in 30 days is not an impossibility with the right amount of work.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Gout, while not deadly, is a very painful condition.  If it is left untreated it can cause serious tissue damage.  Gout is a form of arthritis.  The cause of gout is buildup of small crystals in your joints.  These crystals are comprised of uric acid.  </p>
<p>When there is a buildup of these uric acid crystals, there can be intense pain, swelling, inflammation, and redness.  Usually the kidneys regulate the levels of uric acid in our bodies.  When the kidneys fail to regulate the uric acid, is when gout can strike.  The kidneys may not properly regulate the uric acid for any one of the following reasons:  Trouble with kidneys, change in types of foods consumed, change in weight, illness, certain medications being taken, etc…<br />
<span id="more-49"></span><br />
The excess uric acid can be linked to something called purines.  Purines are found in certain types of foods that we consume.  Some foods have higher levels of purines than others.  Since the food containing purines causes the excess uric acid, one way which gout can be controlled is by going on a gout diet. </p>
<p>There has been much research done in this field.  If you are prone to getting gout, then you should avoid the foods which contain high and significant amounts of purines.  Foods high in proteins have also been linked to gout.  In fact, it has been found that people who eat a lot of meat and/or seafood are at a greater risk of getting gout.</p>
<p>If you have gout, these are the foods that you should avoid while on a gout diet: Herring, mussels, smelt, sweetbreads, anchovies, mutton, veal, bacon, liver, salmon, turkey, pâté, goose, haddock, pheasant, and scallops.  You should also avoid foods, like bread, that contain yeast.  </p>
<p>You should also steer clear of beer, since yeast is used in making it.  You should also not drink alcohol while on a gout diet either.  Also, you should try to avoid foods and drinks that contain high fructose corn syrup, including soft drinks.  Diet soft drinks should be okay to drink; just make sure you read the label.</p>
<p>When on a gout diet you should try to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.  You can also eat whole grains.  Protein consumption should be limited to 15% of your daily diet.  You should only eat lean protein.  This would include skinless chicken and turkey.  </p>
<p>You should try to avoid red meat.  While on a gout diet, you also want to limit your fat intake.  Fats should not exceed 30% of your daily calories.  Only 10% of your calories should come from animal fat. </p>
<p>By watching what you eat while on a gout diet, you should be able to prevent an outbreak.  It is always important to seek medical advice and diagnosis if you believe you have gout.  Your doctor will also probably prescribe medication to help control gout, if you have it. As you can see just being on a gout diet you may lose weight.</p>
